Research participation: MSc student looking for UK PhD students for 1 hour research interviews

7 Mar 2018

Marjolein Drupsteen at the Vrije University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is looking for PhD students in the United Kingdom as research participants for her master thesis.

She is looking for people who are:

  • In a PhD trajectory in the UK in sustainability research;
  • In their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year;
  • Part of a traditional PhD program OR an interdisciplinary research program (for instance: the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research or UK Climate Impact Program);
  • Willing to spent +/- 1 hour of their time for the interview

The research topic is skill development in (collaborative) research projects

The growing number of PhD students has spurred debates about the societal relevance of PhD training trajectories. The academic labour market does not provide enough jobs and many PhD graduates will have a career outside academia. It has been questioned whether current PhD training trajectories are still adequate and collaborative research projects are introduced as alternative trajectories. Such trajectories can support the development of a broader set of skills but might have adverse effects on the development of academic skills.

If you would like to participate in this research please send an e-mail to with your contact information. Marjolein will contact you as soon as possible to schedule an appointment (face-to-face or via Skype).
